Categories C and D Firearms Safety Course

Course Information

Below are examples of persons requiring firearms in these categories:

Feral/pest control, Primary production, Theatrical Ordnance supplier’s licence, Firearms Licence (Instructor), Dealers and Armourers.

In some circumstances a Category C endorsement may be approved due to medical reasons, (Contact Weapons Licensing for further details).

Throughout the safety course students will be evaluated by means of various theoretical assessments, safety, firearm safe handling procedures, storage, transportation, licence application, safe directions, laws, legislation, what it means to be a “Fit and Proper Person” and so much more.

At the end of the firearm safety course there is a “Live Fire” assessment within the weapon category sort.

The live fire practical assessment at the end of the firearm safety course is to assess the students ability to display the required skills and knowledge learnt throughout the duration of the firearm safety course in accordance with the course assessment guidelines.

Students will experience an engaging and interactive classroom environment filled with thought provoking topics, getting hands on experience with firearms and real life events that will make for a memorable and enjoyable day of firearm safety learning.

This course is covered under 11029NAT – Course in Firearms and Weapons  Safety (Approved for Firearms Licensing in Queensland)


Prerequisites

Applicants must be over the age of 18 years of age for Category D.

Completion

Upon successful completion of the firearm safety course, students will be issued with a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment which is valid for 12 months.
